I receive "The card's zip code failed validation" error message during checkout

During checkout, you may receive the error message that your card's zip code failed validation.

This message means that the ZIP or postcode you entered for your billing address does not match what your card issuer (e.g., the bank) has on file for you. If this happens, you can try one of three things to resolve the issue:

  1. Contact the card issuer to find verify what billing address and ZIP or postcode they have on file for you and make sure it matches what you are entering during checkout.
  2. Try checking out using a different card.
  3. Try checking out using PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to check out using this method). It is possible that PayPal's security algorithms (e.g., their address verification system) is different enough from our main credit card processor that your transaction will be approved.

If a debit card or check card is used to make a payment, and the purchase was not accepted for any reason (such as incorrect ZIP or postcode), please be aware that most banks will hold the "authorized" funds (counting against your balance until the authorization clears) even if your order was rejected by our security measures. Such authorizations are merely "pending" charges, and funds will not be transferred because the charge attempt failed our security measures. Authorization fund holds last for varying periods, depending on the issuing credit card company's policy. The period may be as little as 2-3 days (which is the case in an overwhelming majority of these instances) or as long as several months.
